Native American Achievement Schools Pilot Project

Problem Statement: The South Dakota state legislature has passed a bill that provides grants for up to three Native American Achievement Schools to address the high drop-out rates and chronically low achievement of South Dakota Native American students. The SD DOE needs assistance planning for program implementation.
Purpose: In collaboration with the SD Director of Indian Education and the Native American Community Academy (NACA) in New Mexico, NCCC will develop implementation benchmarks, as well as processes and tools to monitor implementation at the pilot schools to document successes and challenges.
Priority Area: Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Education
Expected Outcomes:
1. Pilot project formalized into an actionable, goals-based plan to meet the needs of participating districts' students.
2. SD DOE has an implementation plan to support Native American Achievement in schools
