On Nov. 8, 2018, thirty-three educators from across the state of Nebraska met for a biannual meeting of the Title III Professional Development Cadre in Omaha, Nebraska. Terri Schuster, Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) Title III Director, reminded the group of the importance of returning to their schools, districts, Educational Service Units (ESU), and colleges and sharing learnings from the day.

The NCCC Advisory Board convened for its annual meeting on December 19, 2018, in Denver, Colorado. Board members shared and discussed highlighted examples of their state’s priorities and work and reported enjoying the opportunity to learn from other states across a diverse set of topics, and the ability to engage in reflection and conversation that the meeting format allowed.

The NCCC has been collaborating with Nebraska since 2007 to develop a cohort of educators who can provide research-based practices for improving English Learner (EL) student outcomes on an ongoing basis. In addition to delivering focused statewide professional development, the cohort has functioned as an advisory board and work group for policy and practices.
